Birth*1 December 1798 Elisha T Ferrell was born on 1 December 1798 at Whiteday Creek, Monongalia (now Marion) Co., West Virginia, 393336N0800311W, Per obits (which see), confirmed also by notes. Whiteday Creek is along the border of Monongalia and Marion Counties, actually crossing it. It crosses present day Iinterstate 79 about Smithtown.1 
Marriage*6 January 1820 He married Susanna Hay(e)s, daughter of James Hay(e)s and Elizabeth Dragoo (Dragaud), on 6 January 1820 at Tyler Co., West Virginia, The Esquire, Aaron Morgan, reported the following ceremonies, which he had solemnized since 1816 - Jan. 6, 1820, Elisha Ferrill to Susannah Hays.2

Photo of the barn that Elisha built I took this picture on a trip there in 1991. In 2005 cousin Charles Pain took a lot of pictures, and the barn is scheduled to be burned down before it falls down.

Handwritten part of homestead form reads (besides name etc): south half of the north east quarter of section two, in township one hundred and eighteen of range twenty six, in the district of lands subject to sale at Smithfield Minnesota containing eighty acres. Need to send copy to Natl Archive in DC and ask for copies of all backup documents pertaining to this homestead (land entry papers)

Mr Ferrell married Elsie Stacy, the daughter of Ezra Stacy, Sr. Mr Ferrell had been married previous to this marriage in Virginia and had quite a family. Obituary21 August 1889 His obituary: on 21 August 1889 at Montrose, Wright Co., Virginia, Died - Elisha Ferrell, at the home of his son, Ezra, on Aug. 19th aged 91 years; the remains were interred in the Kreidler cemetery Tuesday; Rev. Doran officiating. Mr. F. was born in Virginia, Dec 1st, 1799, and located in this county in April 1765. He was a member of the M.E. church for over fifty years.8 
Obituary22 August 1889 His obituary: on 22 August 1889 at Montrose, Wright Co., Virginia, Died - Elisha Ferrell, on Monday Aug. 19th, aged 90 years, 8 months and 18 days. Interment occured Tuesday in the Kriedler cemetery conducted by Rev. John Doran of Delano. Mr. F. was born Dec. 1, 1798 in Whiteday Creek, Monongahalo sic Co., Va. and moved to Wright county April 15, 1865. He leaves a widow and several children, and was a member of the Methodist church for over half a century.8 
Obituary22 August 1889 His obituary: on 22 August 1889 at Montrose, Wright Co., Virginia, Elisha Ferrell, after a few days sickness, passed quietyly away Monday moring at the age of 92 years. The funeral took place Tuesday. The deceased has been an invalid from old age for several years. He was one of the first to locate in Montrose and leaves many aquaintances and relatives to recall memories of his earlier days.9
