Birth*4 June 1838 Semira LaCelestine Rosalin Bassett was born on 4 June 1838 at in a covered wagon, Camp of Isreal, Clay Co., Missouri, There is a Patriarchal Blessing that is the source of "Camp of Israel" people use for her birth. The index to it is on film 392695 and refers to the Blessings vol 42 pg 15. The blessing was given 26 Jan 1857 with no place listed. Index shows her name as Semirah La Celestine Wood b.4 Jun 1838 Camp of Israle, [sic], Davis Co.* Mo., Father Oliver Harmon, mother Lucy Bassett. Patriarch John Smith. I ordered a copy of it and there is no more genealogical info in it. I've also been told that Camp of Israel was a moving encampment, and that it was organized in 1846, so the formal use of that name can't be right. Film for that organization is 0001922 #3. No Bassett references in it, that I could find, though some of the pages are waterstained. However, in 1834 when the Zion's March left Kirtland, and they got to Bucyrus (in Crawford Co. OH), a comment was made - "it looks like the camp of Israel" so it is likely that the people on the Zion's March called their moving group Camp of Israel even before the actual 1846 organizaion.
     * Davis County would be Daviess, as there is no Davis. But it is more likely that it was Clay County.
