Source(s): pg 7 "Going back to the Ezra Stacy, Sr., farm at the north end of Fountain Lake, the farm adjoining them on the west was the Edmond W Hayes farm, and they came from West Virginia in 1869 and secured 240 acres of land. Part of this land bordered on Fountain Lake. There was a large family, but with so much land they became substantial farmers from the beginning. in 1869 at Wright Co., Minnesota.¹

Burial*

He was buried at N of Fountain Lake, Franklin Twnshp, Wright Co., Minnesota, Note by historian: 2 Gravestones T 118 25w SE SW Sec 6 north of Fountain Lake. 1) E.W.H [probably the footstone, not another gravestone], and 2) Edmund W Hayes died 13 March 1869 aged 54 yrs 5 mo 5d, small verse at bottom not readable. Owner Lynch in 1990 found them when digging for a corn crib so they are not now at original location. [Historian didn't say where they are now]³
