These notes for GEORGE DELONG, JR. were compiled by Karen Feisel, and are used with her permission. My hope is that her analysis will help others, and that somehow we can all come together to figure out his ancestors. According to "The Compendium of American Genealogy 1600-1800, Vol. V Lineage Records" George was in the War of 1812. The 1844 Tax List for Johnson County, Kentucky includes quite a few people with the surname AUXIER. It also includes the following names: George Delong, Sr., George Delong, Jr., James Delong, Nancy Delong, and Samuel Delong. There are also a number of people with the surname WARD listed.

John Baldwin, a DeLong researcher, states that George DeLong, Jr. is listed in Hardesty's "Presidents, Statesmen and Soldiers" as having served during the War of 1812 in an Ohio Regiment under Gen. Harrison even though he lived in Kentucky.
George and his wife Mary were living in Floyd Co., KY on Nov. 29, 1824 as evidenced by a document they signed on that date concerning the sale of deceased George DeLong's property (George's father).

Information on Ancestry.com, contributed by John Baldwin, Carla Nash, and Todd Reeves is as follows:
- 1790: George was living in parents' home in Mifflin Co. (now Centre Co.), PA
- 1802: Would have settled with parents in Guernsey (then Belmont) Co., OH
- 1803-1805: Arrived in Kentucky about this time. "The Big Sandy Valley" by Ely says he arrived unmarried, coming from OH.
- 1809: In May his brother Joseph either gave or was given a 500-acre mortgage deed to or by Thomas Brown in Floyd Co., KY. That same year in May, George and others were ordered to call their hands to erect a bridge across the "gut" below Thomas Even's field (Floyd Co. Order Book). Also that year George Brown, Samuel Brown and others were added to George DeLong's hands (August Court). And in 1809 George and others were to help with the opening of the road near the mouth of Brandy Cag to Cralk's Hill (October Court).
- 1810: George's brother Joseph had credit levy allowed by John Haws (February Court). Between February and May, George and his brother Joseph returned to Ohio. In May, George was back in Floyd County and George Brown replaced George DeLong as surveyor of the road from Abbott to the Little Paint Rivere. The work schedule included reference to "Delong's old place." Records of the Zanesville Ohio Land Office show that George and Joseph had land in present-day Holmes Co., OH (157 acres in Range 6, Twp. 8, Sect. 5) around this time.
- 1810/1811: Seems to be most likely time for birth of George's daughter Nancy though census records show a range from 1809-1814, with two indicating Ohio birth, but two others KY birth.
- War of 1812: George served under General Harrison.
- About 1819: George returned to KY.
- 1820: George and family appear in April census of Floyd Co., KY. A letter from Agnes Auxier states that the family had returned to Ohio and went to Kentucky for the second time in 1821 settling on John's Creek.
- 1821: On Nov. 20 George granted Power of Attorney to his brother Edward of Perry Co., OH regarding settlement of their father's lands.
- 1830: George and family appear in census records for Floyd Co.
- 1837-1839: George appeared on the 1837 Tax List of Floyd Co., KY. Between 1838-1839 George and his family moved to Lawrence Co., KY which was formed from Floyd Co. in 1821.
- 1840: George and family appear in census for Lawrence Co., KY.
- 1843: George (or his son George?), and sons James and Samuel appear on a list of Johnson Co., KY residents which it was formed from Floyd, Moran and Lawrence Counties.

In the land records is a Lease dated February 9, 1819 from the Trustees John DeLong, John Cline and William Edgar - "trustees appointed according to law to take charge of the 16th Section in the 8th township and 7th Range" - to George DeLong, for a 99-year period - which George signed "with his mark" - for the West Side of Lot #1 in Section 16, Township 8, Range 7, containing 111-1/4 acres (which today is in Beaver Twp., Noble Co., OH). However, on Sept. 13, 1819, George assigned his rights to this land to Jacob Earick of Belmont Co., OH. (It is unknown at this time whether these transactions were by George DeLong the subject of these genealogy Notes, or by his father George DeLong who lived in Wayne Twp., Guernsey Co., OH, or by George the son of John Francis DeLong, Sr.)
A descendant of George (Roger DeLong) says that George traveled from Ohio to the Big Sandy River in Kentucky and up it to a place known today as Auxier. George and his wife returned to Ohio and had four children there. After the fourth child, he along with his brother Joseph and sister Elizabeth, migrated back to Kentucky settling in present-day Martin Co., KY. In the 1850's Joseph's family moved to Texas.
