Jean Loudin said: There is a possibility. Thomas Wamsley, son of John married Elizabeth Ingram. He left for Kentucky at an early date. He was born in 1752 and married in 1776. I have located 4 children John, Thomas, both of whom came back to Pendleton Co for a time. Elizabeth, Isaac. Now he could have had a William as he had a brother William. The last Pendleton record for him is the tax list in 1789 and then he disappears. I found a note that his son Thomas also returned to Kentucky and died there.
The thing is that a brother of the above Thomas--John--moved to Ohio and some nephews who were children of his brother David also moved to Ohio.

A New Jersey branch that can be eliminated is found in Wamsley-Walmsley Family Genealogy 1800-1972 by George A Wamsley Sr & Jr at Blackwood NJ. SLC 1005015 # 4. James-2 Wamsley (progenitor) son of James-1 and Margaret (Buchanon) Wlmsley or Wamsley, was born 29 Sep 1790 in Finlane, Killesher Parish, Townshp of Enniskillen, County of Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. He arrived in Phildelphia between 1800-1804. Vocation: weaver. He married Elizabeth Benson in 1814. Four children: John 1815-1896, George W 1817-1908, Barzilla 1820-1842, and Emily 1827-1900.

Without going into the reasons, I have also eliminated the Wamsleys that are in Adams Co Ohio. William just can't fit in anyplace on that family. Too bad since there some good stories on one of the maternal lines.
