Birth*25 January 1849 Margret Malissa Searcy was born on 25 January 1849 at Ellijay, Gilmer Co., Georgia, per parents 1852 Bible. Spelling in Bible was Margret. An old tablet size lined paper note says “Margaret born 2 Jan 1849” Note the discrepancy with day of birth from the Bible.1 
(InHomeOf) Census18501850 She appeared on the 1850 census in the household of Alfred Harrison Searcy, pg 367b #273-273, Subdivision 33, Gilmer Co., Georgia. Her info on the census included - Searcy, Margaret M 2 b.GA. 
(Witness) Negative1860  Family not found in the 1860 census. One son's obit says they moved from Georgia to Arkansas in the fall of 1959, which is born out by 1859 birth of child in GA and child born in 1863 in AR in 1860. 
Death*2 September 1862 Margret Malissa Searcy died on 2 September 1862 at age 13 on "tustay" per parents 1852 Bible. Spelling in Bible was Margret. Loose small page about 5 ½ inches that had been folded twice and possibly carried in a pocket states “Margret Malissa died September 1862 Tuesday th 2” She would have been 13 years and 7 1/2 months old. Her Father, was away fighting with the military in the Civil War. His wife, “Caroline” wrote to him a letter calling him “Harrison” to tell him that his favorite child had died. How hard that must have been. He must have taken it very badly. He carried his daughter’s picture in his left pocket all thru his military service. She was a beautiful girl.1,2
