McCarl of Kent, IA Dec. 2 1901, Mrs. John Phillips age 76 yrs. 11 mo. 10 days. Mrs. Jemima Phillips was born in Greene County, PA Jan. 12, 1825. She united with the M.E. church in girlhood and lived a Christian life. She was married to John Phillips Sept. 25, 1851, whom she laid to rest Feb. 27, 1868. Remaining true to her marriage vows to the last, she was a resident of Disco and vicinity for 35 years, a true wife and a fond and loving mother of 7 children, two of whom have departed from this earth. The dead are George, died in Pennsylvania, and James, killed by a train at Wichita, Kan. The remains were brought to the old home in Disco by her son, W.F.Phillips, and daughter, Mrs. McCarl, of Lawton, OK , where the funeral and burial took place Thursday last. (Thur Dec. 5, 1901) The children thank their Illinois friends for their kindness during their affliction. " |
