| Will* | 18 May 1842 | Jacob Swiger left a will on 18 May 1842 at Harrison Co., West Virginia; In the name of God amen, I Jacob Swiger of the County of Harrison, and state of Virginia do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say: 1 I desire that all my just debts and funeral Expences be paid. 2 After the payment of my debts and funeral expences I give to my wife Nancy Swiger one third part of my estate both real and personal for and during the time her natural life and after her deceased I give the same to my children hereinafter mentioned, I will to my wife all my lands so long as shee reemains my widow until my youngest child becomes twenty one years of age allso all my House hold furniture, beds and bedding together with my kitchen furniture and mettle and my three horsecratures and four Cows the choice of my cows two twoyearolds and a hiefer calf and twenty head of my sheep, all my hogs and all my farming utentials and tools to gather with all my notes and accounts standing due me or otherwise and my reasons for leaving this property in this way is to support and Educate my children untill they become of age at my wife's own discretion. 3 After my youngest child becomes 21 years of age I give to my four sons George W. Zacheaus Thomas L. and Jacob A. Swiger all my lands to them and their heirs forever. 4thly I give to my daughters all my moveable estate after my youngest child becomes 21 years of age to be equally divided Except my daughter Susanna that has got a bed and bedding and some other house hold property that I charge her $15. for and interest, the same to come out of her portion of the estate. 5thly all the rest of my Estate both real and personal of what nature or kind soever it may not be herein before particularly disposed of I desire may be Equally divided among my several children herein before named which I give to them their heirs Exetors, administrators and assigns for ever. 6thly and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my Nancy Swiger Exetors (and Thomas) of this my last will and testament, hearby revoking all other or former wills and testaments by me made. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this 18th May in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty two .
