Birth* | circa 1790 | Stephen Kile was born circa 1790 at Frederick Co., Virginia, I think there is a problem with Stephen's age. On his death certificate, it says he was 80 years old when he died 24 June 1870, which would make his birth year 1790. Supporting this birth year is the fact that there were two land transactions in Frederick Co where he sold his inherited part of his father's land, selling land in 1816 and in 1819. If he were a minor, he could not have sold the land. So, in 1816 he had to be at least 21 years old. Why the census records for 1850 and 1840 show him as 50 and 30 to 40 respectively I don't know. What do you think????? |
