David Pipes was an early (prior to 1750) immigrant to Baltimore Harbor. Could he be a father or grandfather to John Pipes code 480?

Book - Hennen's Choice - A Compilation of the Descendants of Matthew Hennen (1752-1839) by Dorothy T Hennen 1972 pgs 457+ has reference to John Pipes (Capt/Lt) and the "the Jr on the end of his name would indicate that he was likely a son of another John Pipes of whom mention has been found in New Jersey as early as 1750, when he was a debtor in a Thompson Estate. It is most likely that this elder John Pipes Sr had gone from New Jersey to North Carolina at a very early date". From this, it looks as though research needs to be done in Jew Jersey and North Caolina as well as Spartanburg Co SC that one of the researchers gave as the death place for John Sr. However, I've also been told that paid researchers have really exhausted NJ.
