CAUTION* George Washington Kile has the following CAUTIONARY INFORMATION: He is NOT the G W Kile that was in Capt Rowan's Co in Civil War. That was a black company and that George was also a different age. It is unknown at present which George pension #1359966 is for. Have not yet ordered the pension to see. The service is B 46 WVa and the date is hard to read.

     Note that there is an absence of Scotch Irish names like James, Robert, Joseph, and William.
     A possible sister for GW would be Eliza Ann Kile who marr 9 Apr 1840 Tyler Co marr bk 1 pg 101, to Benjamin S Martin, by Geo Monroe, same minister & page as Eli Ferrell and Rachel Lewis.
     There is a connection with Kiles and Underwoods, but whether they are the right ones or not I don't know. Luther E Kile was exec of estate of Joseph Underwood who may be the brother of my Sarah. This Luther E Kile died 1909 appraisal in Fudiciary settlement book 7 pg 287 & 304. Probate pg 211, settlement 8-47, 9-1. His widow was Clara and kids were Zella Swiger, resided Adamston, Della (Mrs Homer) Strosnider, resided Clarksburg, and minors Charles E "Clark" resided Salem, Wayne, Edward, & Kenneth all resided Center Point, as did widow. Luther also adm of Ruth Bates estate in 1898 & exec of Hunry Cumberland in 1899. - - GW's son Andrew has a son Luther, are they the same person?
     Monongalia earliest Kile dates found - Stephen (1820), John (1827), James (1812) and Abraham (1816 bastardy) all in court stuff per SLC 249836.
 
Birth*15 March 1826 He was born on 15 March 1826 at Doddridge (then Harrison) Co., West Virginia, Birth date & place from death record, though tombstone says 14th. 
(Witness) Census18401840 He is assumed to be one of the household of Stephen Kile in the 1840 census, page 67, Harrison Co., West Virginia, who has 1m 0-5 (John), 1m5-10 (Frances), 2m10-15 (Asa & George), 1m30-40 (Stephen, 1f 10-5 (?), 1f15-20 (?), 1f40-50 (Elizabeth). 
Marriage*5 March 1848 George Washington Kile married Sarah Underwood, daughter of Dixon Underwood (1803-1887) and Kesiah Baker, on 5 March 1848 Pages from Bible specifically say "Sarah Underwood and G.W.Kile was married March the 5. the 1848 to them was born 13 children". GW & Sarah marr is not in either Doddridge or Tyler marr records, but they are very sketchy during that time period. Wetzel records don't start til 1854.1
 
Census1850*3 October 1850 George Washington Kile appeared on the 1850 census as the head of household, page 31 #490-431, District #13, Doddridge Co., West Virginia, along with Elizabeth Kile and Sarah Underwood . His info on the census included Kile, George W 23 b.VA farmer. 
Note* Note(s): Doddridge Co deaths (SLC 838195 & 838196) show the following Kile deaths. Dixon - 17 or 18 Apr 1889 - 2 entries bk 1 pg 19 one says Broad Run, the other says Eagle Mills, age 1 day old. No parents listed. His presumed twin was Curtis - 25 Apr 1889 - bk 1 pg 19 Eagle Mills age 7 days old. No parents listed. 
Census1860*1860 George Washington Kile appeared on the 1860 census as the head of household, pg 15 #105-105, West Union, Doddridge Co., West Virginia, along with Sarah Underwood, Mahala Elizabeth Kile, Luke B Kile and Lavina Kile . His info on the census included Kyle, Geo W 33 b.VA farmer $0-$25.

     George W Kile enters 70 acres of land in Doddridge Co by virtue of land office treasury warrent #25614 for 70 acres granted to the said George W Kile on 2 Mar 1860 and Barnneded? (probably bounded) as herin after described. Situated on the head of Kelley's run a branch of the lefthand fork of McElroy Creek. Beginning on a sugartree standing on the bank of sid run thence up the righthand fork of sid run to a dogwood mark as a corner of a survey made by Wilson L Sulavan for the said kile thence with the lines of said survey as near as maybe to the beginnings to wit from sid dogwood a northeast course to the top of the ridge thence with the top of said ridge passing round the head of Kelley's Run to a chestnut oak one of the corners in the survey aforesaid thence straight to the beginning so as to include the land on which said George W Kile now resides.

According to pg 124 of another of the lists, for Mess no.6 prison no.2, he had been captured at home on Aug 14th and received Aug 26th.2 
Military* He and Asa Kile were in the military at Doddridge Co., West Virginia, During the civil war, Asa enlisted in the Home Guard under Captain Joseph Underwood. He also served in Unit 180 from Doddridge county as a Private under Captain Hoskinson's C company. A George Kile also of Doddridge county served as a private in the same company - per KKH.

His info on the census included Kile, Geo W 45 b.VA farmer $0 $200.

Death*20 October 1899 George Washington Kile died on 20 October 1899 at Franks Run, Doddridge Co., West Virginia, at age 73 Death record (Evd 159). Death date also Bible.1 
Burial* He was buried at Underwood Cemetery, near Ashley, Doddridge Co., West Virginia. 
Will* He left a will; Looked in Doddrige wills vol 1 (SLC 838198) and George not there.
