Cassandra Evans was the wife of Zebediah Baker. She was born in Maryland. They were part of nine members in the first church class in this vicinity organized by Rev. James B. Finley, the pioneer of Ohio Methodism. In the 1850 census in Harrison County, Ohio, Zebediah's son Otho Baker born in 1781 reported that he was born in Maryland. Zebediah, (sometimes spelled Zebedee) and Cassandra (Evans) Baker and John and Margaret Baker were listed as some of the first members of Bethel Church organized around 1818.5
