CAUTION | | John Dorsey Baker and Zebediah aka Zebedee Baker and Evan I Baker have the following CAUTIONARY INFORMATION: John and Zebediah/Zebedee are brothers, either could be the father of Evan. Many database have John Dorsey Baker as the father of Keziah Baker because a John Baker signed her marriage bond. However, it could have been her uncle instead of her father who signed the bond. I'm inclined tho think it's Zeb for a couplereasons. Evan could have been named for his mother Cassandra Evans and Evan could have named his daughter Cassandra (Keziah) after his mother. |

A letter to Iona White from Grace Fisher, dated August 28, 1989, says that Lillian Baker (age 83) was a descendant of Zebedee and Cassandra (through Otho). Lillian was sure that Zebedee is buried in the old part of Bethel Cemetery. In Hanna's article on the Bethel Church and Cemetery, he mentioned the Bakers having a cemetery lot in the old section. Iona White visited the cemetery in 1981 and was told by Gertrude Baker (dec'd) that there was nothing in the old part presently but brush. Tami B. Stallard visited the cemetery in April, 1998 and could not find Zebediah Baker but there were many Bakers buried there and many stones not readable, sunk into the ground, or no longer there.2,6 |
