(MentionedIn) Will4 August 1857 Elizabeth "Betsey" Merchant was mentioned in the will of Elisha Merchant on 4 August 1857 at Truxton, Cortland Co., New York, as daughter Elizabeth Wing; In the name of God amen. I Elisha Merchant of the Town of Truxton, County of Cortland, & State of New York, of the age of seventy-five years and being of sound mind & memory do make, publish & declare this my last Will & Testament in manner following, that is to say.
     First. I give & bequeath to my son Ebenezer Merchant the west one half of thirty-seven acres of land on Lot number eight in the Town of Truxton to be used & enjoyed by him during his natural life & from & immediately after his death I give & bequeath the same to my son William Merchant, to his heirs & assigns forever.
     Second. I give & bequeath to my son William Merchant the east one half of the said Thirty-seven acres of land or said Lot number eight in Truxton aforesaid.
     Third. I give & bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Wing the sum of ten dollars.
     Fourth. I give & bequeath to my daughter Eleanor Briggs the sum of ten dollars.
     Fifth. I give & bequeath to my daughter Mariah Perry the sum of ten dollars.
     Sixth. I further give & bequeath to my sons William & Ebenezer Merchant all the rest residue of my personal property, goods, wares & merchandise to be equally divided between them & the said William & Ebenezer Merchant is to pay all debts due from me at my decease & to pay out of the goods & chattels the above named Thirty dollars to my three daughters, to wit: Ten dollars apiece within one year from my decease and the said William & Ebenezer is to support & take good care of their mother during her natural life, which she is to accept in lieu of dower, and I hereby appoint my sons (William &, crossed out) Ebenezer (& William, inserted) MERCHANT, Administrator of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal, this fourth day of August in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred & fifty seven.
