Note* | | Note(s): It is believed Nancy’s first son was named “George” after Nancy’s husband’s brother George Irwin.1 |
Birth* | 1816 | George Irwin was born in 1816 at Indiana age 34 in 1850. |
Marriage* | 2 October 1838 | He married Charlotte Scott on 2 October 1838 at Fayette Co., Indiana, per [EMAIL:]http://www.rootsquest.com/indiana/fayette/marriage/1819gr-e.html[:EMAIL] though it shows his name as "Ervin (Evans.)" |
Census1840* | 1840 | George Irwin was the head of the household in the 1840 census, Liberty Twnshp, Wabash Co., Indiana, with "In the 1840 census I can't find George Ervin anywhere in Franklin or Fayette Co. It wasn't until I started looking into this Scott family that I find a "George Ervin" living in Liberty Twp Wabash Co. Ind. of around the same age living with a female of the same age as Charlotte Scott and with a boy under five. George and Charlotte had a son in 1839 named Jonathan Ervin. Who I believe is a possible namesake to thier neighbor and her possible relative Jonathan Scott. I believe all of the Scotts on this page came from Fayette Co with Carolina connections. My only other clue is Charlotte's 1880 census record listing both parents as from North Carolina. It's not proof but I feel they are strong clues." (note, indexed as Errin but clearly Ervin in census).2 |
Census1850* | 1850 | He appeared on the 1850 census as the head of household, pg 223 #146-146, Laurel, Franklin Co., Indiana, along with Charlotte Scott, Jonathan Irwin, Nancy A Irwin, Mary A Irwin, Elizabeth Irwin and Frances E Irwin . His info on the census included Irwin, G W 34 b.IN laborer (no land.) |
Death* | 1852 | George Irwin died in 1852.2 |
