Birth He was born at South River, New York, per marriage banns. 
Baptism*16 August 1685 He was baptized on 16 August 1685 at Reformed Dutch Church, New Utrecht, Kings Co., New York, Christened as Petrus but since he has a brother Pieter, we assume that is why he became commonly called Samuel.

Written in Dutch, translated into English - "Year 1713. The 29 Oct the banns were registered of Samuel Groendenkijk, young man, born on the South River and residing in Midwood, and Sara Probasco, young lady, born and residing in the New Lots under Midwood."
His marriage to Sara Probasco was less than a year - no issue.

Marriage*13 May 1732 Samuel aka Petrus Groendyke married Maria Van Vleek, daughter of Isaac Van Vleek and Catalina De Lanoy, on 13 May 1732 at Dutch Reformed Church, New York City, New York Co., New York, 1732 13 May; Samuel Groenendyk; Maria Kierstede. 
Will8 August 1753 Samuel aka Petrus Groendyke left a will on 8 August 1753 at New Ultrecht, Kings Co., New York; In the name of God, Amen, August 8, 1753, I Samuel Groenendyck, of New York, gent., being sick. All debts are to be paid by my executors, "and my clothing or apparell belonging to my body shall altogether be delivedred unto my son Cornelius, before any division is made." My wife Maria shall have, pssess, and enjoy all my estate, real and personal, and the income of my house rents while she remains my widow, and after her decease her burial charges are to be paid out of my estate; and all her clothes shall be delivered to her daughter Catalina Warner. Whereas I have given to my son Petrus for his outfit at the time of his marriage, to the value of £70, and I have given to my son Johanes, for his outfit £45, and to my daughter Maria, wife of Geritt Willemse £50, and to my son Nicholas £50, and to my daughter Catalina, wife of Luke Kierstead £45; I therefore order that my son Cornelius shall have for his outfit £45, and y daughter Sara £45. I have given to my son Petrus £100 and he is to pay £5 per annum so long as it remains due. I leave to my 6 children, Johanes, Maria, Nicholas, Catalina, Cornelius and sara, each £100, and if there be any more it is to be divided among my 7 children. I make my wife Maria, and Petrus Groenendyck, of New Utrecht, in Kings County, and Luke Kierstead, tailor of New York, executors. Witnesses, John Mn, "cordwainer," Richard Kip, Charles Phillips, "cooper." Proved, January 23, 1754, and confirmed by James DeLancy, Esq., Lieutenant-Governor.1 
Death*23 November 1753 He died on 23 November 1753 at New Utrecht, Kings Co., New York, at age 68. 
Probate*23 January 1754 His estate was probated on 23 January 1754 at New Ultrecht, Kings Co., New York.
