Liaison* | French Miller Ferrell and Mary Ann Freed had a liaison Calhoun County birth records list birth of Elizabeth Alice Freed to French and Mary Ann Freed, reported by Mary Ann. No record of a marriage record for these two. The 1870 census shows Mary Ann, age 21, and Elizabeth, age 3, living with Mary Ann's parents, Jacob and Elizabeth. In his will dated 8 March 1919, French leaves Elizabeth Tanner, born Freed, $750. In a codicil, dated 3 Dec. 1927, he sets aside the $750 bequest and instead bequeaths her $50 a yr for six yrs beginning at age of 79. If she absolutely is in need upon reaching age 74, the payments may begin then. Seems like he was rethinking that original request and maybe hoping she didn’t live that long. Haven’t looked into that yet. My grandmother wasthe executor of his will.Have not yet lookedfor the estate settlement if there was one, but it seems fairly clear that French and Mary Ann had a liason before he married my grandmother.2 | |
