Sad Fate of an Aged Lady Residing Near Granville
Mrs Olive Thomas, a lady 85 years of age, who resided about four miles north of Granville, this county, met with a horrible death yesterday. Mar Thomas was boiling cider over and out-doors fire, and while leaning over the kettle her clothing took fire. She saw the flames and started to run toward the house, calling for assistance. Her running fanned the fire, and in a few moments her clothing was all one mass of flames. The old lady fell, overcome by the pain, and ere help could arrive, was literally incinerated. She died in terrible agony, being fairly roasted to death. The funeral takes place to-morrow.2
