Leonard Colony's mother was Linda Beals and her brother Alexander is Marilyn's ancestor. Xerox of original Delaware County ?? Huldah Beals widow of Abraham Beals being sworn says that Abraham Beals died intestate at Masonville in said county on the 26th day of October last leaving personal property in said county. That the probable amount of personal property left by the deceased in four hundred dollars - that she desires letters of administration to be granted to her & her son Alexander Beals. Hulda Beals her mark Sworn before me Nov 14th 1844 Wherefore it is ordered that letters of administration be granted to said Huldah Beals & Alexander Beals on there entering ___ a bond in the ___ sum of eight hundred dollars with ___ sufficient securities to be approved by the surrogate with the condition (can't make out rest of sentence). Alexander Beals Sworn & subscribed before me this 14th day of November 1844 (unreadable signature) I found in SLC 833626 Delaware Co NY "Minutes" pg 196 vol 1 (1835-44) In the matter of the administration of the estate of Abraham Beals dec'd November 14 1844. Petition having be duly filed ordered that Huldah Beals be appointed administratrix & Ebenezer Smith & Quartus Brown appraisers of the personal estate of said dec'd. Typescript of unknown document - need to tract down original. This document also in Joseph Colony file. Petition of D.W. Colony of the Town of Delhi, Delaware County, shows that your petition is entitled to a certain share of the property which belonged to Abram Beals, late of the Town of Masonville. Alexander and Huldah discharged their duties, etc. and took into their possession the value of about $2000.00 of real and personal property; that the heirs of said Abram Beals were as follows; Linda Colony, Lucinda Couse, Amanda Beals, Alexander Beals and the children and Huldah Beals the wife. Petitioner is the son of Linda Colony and is entitled to his share of the said estate and also to the shares of Leonard Colony and Lucy Platner by assignment in writing hereto attached.
