Birth*26 January 1799 Rev. Elijah Gordon Jeffries was born on 26 January 1799 at Jamestown, Williamsburg Co., Virginia, place per bio of son "E G" (Elijah Gordon). Martin, Jeffrieds and Wayman Families says "whose family came from Fauquier Co. Marriage*12 August 1818 He married Lucy Pettit on 12 August 1818 at Book 1 pg 172, Mercer Co., Kentucky, "This is to authorize the Clerk of Washington County Court to issue a licese for my Daughter Lucy to intermarry with Elijah Jeffries" (signed) Thomas Pettit. Bond signed by Elijah Jeffries and Anderson Jeffries. The minister was Joel Gordon.1,3 
Religion* Rev. Elijah Gordon Jeffries: 1832-1847, Kentucky, Elijah Jeffries commenced his ministry among the churches of this Association [South KY Assoc of Separate Baptists, No. 2] not far from 1832, and for many years, was one of the most influential preachers of the body. He was Moderator of the Association from 1842 to 1847. At first, he favored the proposed union with the United Baptists, in 1842, but afterwards strenuously opposed it. It was thought to be his influence that prevented the union, and came so near destroying the Association. He labored something near twenty years in that region. The author has no account of him, at a later date.4 
Marriage*26 March 1832 He married Elizabeth Marshall, daughter of John M Marshall and Margaret Long, on 26 March 1832 at Harrodsburg, Mercer Co., Kentucky, Know all men by these presents that we Elijah Jeffreys and William Humphrey are held and firmly bound unto the commonwealth of Kentucky in the penal sum of fifty pounds current money to be made we bind ourselves our heirs and jointly and severally b these present sealed with our seals and dated this 17 day of March 1832.
The condition of the ___ above obligation is such that whereas there is a license about issue for a marriage intended to be solemnised between sd Elijah and Elizabeth Marshal ... Now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force & virtue.
