Deed*1900  In 1900 at Lawrence Co., Missouri: Both Samuel and his mother Mahala (Heater) had land in 1900 census, his with a mortgage, and hers free of mortgage. Per LCHS - "On the 1900 plat S.A. Bassett owns 160 acres in Twp 29 Rng 27 Sec 20. And adjacent 40 acres is labled as being owned by Mrs. Bassett. These properties are 3 miles west of Miller or one mile north of Phelps.

In regards to finding the sale of the lands (She died a Taylor, so might have sold under either name.) LCHS said: "Dispostion may be problematic. Will try local newspapers first. Executor's Notices, etc. One of our members works in the Recorder of Deeds office. I'll put him to work!"1

     His first wife was buried in Old Aurora Cemetery Row 24 Taylor, Samantha T. 7 Nov 1829 - 16 Oct 1891 age 62 years w/o P.R. Taylor.1 
Census1910*1910 Mahala J Patterson appeared on the 1910 census as the head of household, ED 93 sht 1b Miller Village Main St #25-25 , Lincoln Twnshp, Lawrence Co., Missouri. Her info on the census included Taylor, Mahala J 67 b.OH widow with 7 kids one living. Parents b.PA. Note that #25-25 is the Waight or Haight home (Charles 71 & Elizabeth 54 - they've been married 5 years; plus his motherinlaw Tarter, Mary A 74 a widow). Charles shows as a "head" and Mahala shows as a "head" without it being a different family/visitation. Unable to tell if the census taker should have marked this as #25-26 or what other reason there might have been for them being in the same house/visitation. 
Death*30 December 1916 She died on 30 December 1916 at Green, Lawrence Co., Missouri, at age 75 Death record.2
