Lived on Pipes Creek in the Irish community. He was a strong Baptist. This is per a Mennonite preacher's diary Per Shirley - from Surry Co NC records she saw circa 1983. Need copy from her.

Don't think there's a connection: "Sons of the Descendants of Samuel Converse Jr" compiled and edited by Charles Allen Converse 2 volumes Eben Putnam Publ. 
(Witness) Will18 November 1804 Shortcuts and Abbreviations and To-Do List witnessed the will of John Pipes on 18 November 1804 at Spartanburg Co., South Carolina; Will never proved, but this was the date. See probate. SHIRLEY said she would SEND a copy of his will that is in state archives. Need to follow through on this so that it can be scanned and put on Pipes website. 
(Witness) To-Dobetween 1816 and 1818 To-Do: Check where she and her husband were in 1816-1818 as they were later found in Licking county OH - did they pick up her brother Samuel's kids from their stepmother Anna in Lake county while on their way to Licking?
